Leading with Purpose One Story at a Time Dr. Paulette Harper

How are you making Black History today? "I am making Black history today by dedicating myself to amplifying the voices and stories of those in our communities around the globe. Through my work as a storyteller, I've made it my mission to shine a spotlight on the voices of men and women, ensuring their narratives are heard and valued. Whether through TV, online programs, I've strived to uplift the stories of those whose voices have been historically silenced. By providing platforms for expression and fostering dialogue, I'm helping to bridge cultural divides and build empathy across communities. My commitment to advancing these narratives is deeply rooted in the belief that every individual's story deserves to be told and celebrated. I stand on the shoulders of those who have fought for representation and equality, and I am honored to play a part in continuing that legacy."

Can you share with us a significant figure from Black History who has personally inspired you and why? Certainly! Madam C.J. Walker is a significant figure from Black History who has personally inspired me in numerous ways. Born Sarah Breedlove, she overcame tremendous adversity to become the first self-made female millionaire in the United States. Her journey from poverty to prosperity is a testament to resilience, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Madam C.J. Walker's story resonates with me because of her relentless pursuit of success despite facing systemic racism, sexism, and economic hardship. Instead of allowing these obstacles to deter her, she leveraged her creativity and ambition to build a beauty empire that not only transformed her own life but also empowered countless other Black women.

Madam C.J. Walker's legacy serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of resilience, perseverance, and using one's success to uplift others. Her story continues to inspire generations of individuals, including myself, to pursue their dreams despite the odds and to make a positive impact on the world around them.

For those who are also striving to leave a legacy, what advice would you share? If you are striving to leave a legacy, my one piece of advice would be to always stay true to your values and purpose. Your legacy is not just about what you accomplish, but how you impact others and the world around you. By staying aligned with your core values and pursuing goals that are meaningful to you, you will not only achieve personal fulfillment but also leave a lasting impact that reflects your authenticity and integrity. Remember to prioritize relationships, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and never underestimate the power of small acts of kindness and compassion. Your legacy is shaped by the choices you make every day, so make them count.

How do you plan to make the next year your best year?  As a minister, speaker, and storyteller, my plan to make the next year my best year involves a multifaceted approach that combines personal growth, professional development, and meaningful impact:

Grow Spiritually: I plan to deepen my spiritual practice through daily meditation, prayer, and reflection. By nurturing my spiritual well-being, I aim to strengthen my connection with God and cultivate inner peace and resilience.

Expanding Speaking Engagements: I intend to expand my speaking engagements by seeking opportunities to share my message of hope, inspiration, and empowerment with a wider audience. Whether through conferences, workshops, or online platforms, I aim to reach individuals who can benefit from my insights and experiences.

As a coach for storytellers, my dedication to sharpening storytelling skills remains unwavering. I am committed to refining the craft of weaving narratives that deeply connect with audiences on an emotional level. Through the art of storytelling, my goal is to empower fellow storytellers to inspire, stimulate critical reflection, and catalyze impactful change one reader at a time.

Overall, my goal for the next year is to continue growing personally and professionally while making a positive difference in the lives of others. Through my work as a minister, speaker, and storyteller, I hope to inspire, uplift, and empower individuals to live authentically and pursue their dreams with courage and conviction.
