What inspired you to start your business, and how did you turn your vision into a reality?

My inspiration to start my business all started from a Girl's Night Out Bunco Game. It was January of 2014. My girlfriends and I were all excited to be gathering for "Game Night". The date was set, the Host house was in place, and my husband would make us his famous chili. Yum! All things had been set, when I felt God instruct me to purchase all the ladies a journal and instruct them to write their vision and make it plain. I took the walk of faith of what I felt I was hearing and followed suit. That night we all received a writing journal, I read Habakkuk 2, we wrote our vision and dream for our life, and I sealed it with prayer. It was a night to remember. Good fun, fellowship, and a forceful word from the Lord.

Weeks later God would give me a title for me to publish my own journal. I was overwhelmed with such a big assignment, so I thought, but know if God gives you a vision, He will also give provision. Long story short, He gave me the idea in February and my first of many journals was published on April 14, 2024. From that one journal I evolved into The Journal Book Coach, where I began creating journals for others. From there I begin inspiring others online. I stumbled on Periscope and began live-streaming Verse of the Day for three years, every Monday through Friday. I needed a title, so I called myself the Purpose Pusher. From the Purpose Pusher I then became a Certified Life Coach, Host of the MonaVations Podcast, tee shirt owner of PurposedGear.

I guess I said all this to briefly show my inspiration was ultimately designed and directed by God and him giving me a "God Idea"!

What challenges have you faced as a woman in the business world, and how did you overcome them?

I've faced many challenges, but my biggest challenge would be my MINDSET! I finally had to own who I was in business, that I was good at what I do, and that I had paid the price and put in the work to hold my head up in confidence and be unapologetically ME, The Journal Book Coach, the Certified Life Coach, and all the other titles I had evolved into. That I no longer had to dumb down my prices and charge my worth. I finally accepted the fact that I was making a difference in the lives of the woman called to me.

How do you define success, and what milestones have been most meaningful in your career so far?

Success to me is defined by accomplishing the goal no matter how long it takes. Being a Finisher is success to me. I see so many start and not finish, make offers and not follow through, so being a Finisher is important to me when people are depending on you to get them their product or service promised.

Celebrating ten years in business is my most meaningful milestone to date. I celebrated this milestone this year in January. Looking back at all the accomplishments, awards, clients, conferences, and I could go on and on of how humble beginnings have turned into something so much bigger than I could have ever imagined, but when you serve a Big God, don't expect anything less.

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs looking to break into your industry?

My advice to aspiring female entrepreneurs is start small and build! Do not allow what you don't have deter you from starting. You will find as you begin to take steps toward your vision, the path to success will unfold as you go. The key is to go! No steps, no pathway. So go with what you know and the little you may have and resources, support, and opportunities are going to unfold for you.
