Your latest book is a devotional-- what inspired you to move from young adult fiction into spiritual writing?
My personal goal has always been to write for many audiences using a variety of literary genres. However, I would say that my recent motivation to write the most current devotional was an act of obedience to God. I believe that God wanted me to share my own struggles of letting go, trusting Him, and seeking His will in all that I do so that I could help someone else find their way to spiritual freedom. In my devotional I list thirty things that I feel have hindered me in the past from truly living a life of purpose, and I believe that those things will also resonate with many of my readers.
As a speaker, educator and evangelist, how has that journey shaped you as an author?
I think the biggest way my life has been shaped by the varied roles I play is through my faith and belief that God has a purpose for our lives. I truly believe that the gifts and talents we possess are to be used in helping someone else along the way. Whether it’s in a classroom, a boardroom, a pulpit, or a grocery store we all have something of value to add to make this world a better place. We just have to do it!
Share who your devotional was created for and how it will impact readers:
My devotional Letting Go and Letting God: A 30-Day Guide to Spiritual Freedom was created for anyone who has faced the challenge of submitting fully to God’s will for their lives. The ultimate goal for me, and I am sure for a good deal of people is to live a life of purpose without fear and uncertainty. I believe that is only possible when you aren’t relying on your own strength and abilitiy, but totally surrendering and relying on the power of God.
What is next for you in 2025?
I have many projects that I want to work on in 2025 and bring to fruition. However to pinpoint a few, I plan to publish my first poetry collection, entitled “Poetry, My Voice.” In addition, I plan on launching my YouTube channel entitled Monday Motivation with inspirational messages, poetry recitations, and other uplifting content. Furthermore, I hope to embark on more speaking engagements so that I can continue to share the goodness of God with others as well as give them encouragement to know that no matter what we face in this life we have the victory through Christ Jesus.
